This may be either a crucifix (when it holds the body of Jesus)
or a cross. We begin the Rosary here by praying the Apostles'
Creed.

(3, 4 & 5) The first larger bead represents an Our
Father (The Lord's Prayer), meant for our union with Christ who is the one who taught
His disciples and us how to pray. The next three smaller beads represent 3 Hail
Marys said for the gifts of Faith, Hope and Charity. The next larger bead is the Glory
Be to remind us that all 15 mysteries of the Rosary take their origin in the Holy
Trinity. |
 |
(8) When separating the decades, this bead will represent the place
to pray one Glory
Be to end the current decade, pray The
Fatima Prayer, pray "Mary, Queen of Peace,
please pray for us". Announce the next reflection of the Mystery you are praying and begin the next decade with an Our
Father (The Lord's Prayer).
|
|
(6)
This medal begins and ends the Holy Rosary Chaplet.
Five decades equals one Chaplet which can be either
the Joyful, Sorrowful or Glorious Mystery. Begin with The
Fatima Prayer, announce the Mystery
(each Mystery has 5 reflections, announce the appropriate reflection to
coordinate with the decade you are praying) and pray an Our
Father (The Lord's Prayer).
|
(9)
Repeat steps 7 and 8 to complete all 5 decades.
|
|

(7) Each bead of the decade represents one step closer to our Blessed
Mother. The Hail
Mary should be prayed on each bead.
|
(10) Now we've ended the traditional Holy Rosary Chaplet (five decades). On the medal pray the Glory
Be, the The
Fatima Prayer and the Hail
Holy Queen. You may now end this Chaplet or Rosary by making the sign of the cross, or continue with the next Mystery. |
- The preparatory prayers are the Act
of Contrition and the Prayer
before the Rosary.
- Begin the Rosary by blessing yourself with the Sign
of the Cross and pray the Apostles'
Creed.
- Next bead, pray the Our
Father (The Lord's Prayer).
- Next bead, pray three Hail
Marys.
- Next bead, pray the Glory
Be.

When you have prayed the Hail
Holy Queen you may continue with the next Holy Rosary Chaplet by
praying the next Mystery for the sixth decade. Repeat steps 6 thru 10
until you've returned to the medal
and another Chaplet and then when completed, begin again for the last
Mystery. End your Rosary with the Hail
Holy Queen. All 4 Chaplets (20 decades) comprise one full Holy Rosary.
Many people will pray a Rosary a day celebrating a different Mystery each
day. Traditionally, while the days may vary with the Liturgical
season, the Mysteies are celebrated as: Joyful Mysteries on Monday
and Saturday, the Luminous on Thursday, Sorrowful on Tuesday and Friday
and the Glorious on Sunday and Wednesday. |
